My question is kind of like the previous post. In my tissue test it recommendations 7.27 ounces per 1,000 square feet. I’m having a hard time translating that however. Pumpkin patch is 700sq feet. I have an injector system to fertigate the plants. I’ve been using a water soluble potassium sulfate that is 0-0-53 (5lb bag). Higher pH soil. There are about 44 days until the weigh-off. I’m trying to figure out about how much I should be adding through the injector per day right now. Easiest way for me is if someone could translate ounces into how many tablespoons of the potassium powder I should be adding per day through the injector. I think I should front load it some to get back into the sufficient range and then taper off to more of a regular spoon feeding but would love some input on what the powder amount should be. In the tissue test there was a mild deficiency of potassium and sulfur.

I might have gotten this figured out. I believe I need about 21 tablespoons of potassium sulfate. Can someone confirm my numbers.

ounces is a difficult measurement....is 7.27 ounces referring to weight or volume?. What is the weight of a tablespoon of your potassium sulfate powder.

2 tablespoons per ounce x 7.27 = 14.54 tablespoons.

ok...need to adjust for the 700/1000 sq ft and also that the potassium sulfate is only 53% potassium.

you need 7.26 oz weight per 1000 x .7 (area adjustment) / .53 (% K in SOP) x 2 (tablespoons per oz) = 19.18

Did I make a mistake?

Oh, i did make a mistake, i used 7.26 instead of 7.27...i think it should be 19.2 tablespoons SOP added to the 700 sq ft. I do not know the answer for application method...foliar vs drench...and timing.

thinking about...7 oz of K added to soil only raises the ppm by 10ppm. That is not much change.
