Hey, any chance of weigh-off date's could be moved up a month? Reason: Because of the weird spring that we have had in Wis, esp where I live in Appleton..pumpkins seem to be maturing rather rapidly. However, once the leaves dry up and growth seems to slow...how long will the kin remain in good shape. Make sense or not? fluffy In my case I planted my kin in the basement around mid March,19...put her outside 1st week of May 19 ...Pollinated 2nd week of June...did I do wrong...not she looks pretty much done...will I maybe loose her? Or will she keep till weigh-off day Late October? fluffy

Most growers transplant outside once the seedlings have two or three true leaves. I think you said your plant was 8 ft long. If that is accurate then it was kept inside way too long and was probably had a pot bound roots. Also the good growers in your are are probably using far more advanced fungicides to keep their leaves healthy longer. You should connect with their group to learn the secrets of longevity. Hope you had fun learning and are ready to hit it hard next season.

Wisconsin has a variety of weighoff options starting on September 14. There are considerable logistics that go into a weighoff. If you are having plant issues and can't make your target weighoff, find an earlier option within driving distance.

Late October is iffy for anyone. Early start is great if the weigh off is early you are doing fine. Keep the vine and stem dry and the entire pumpkin dry too if possible. The last days she may only gain a few pounds per day but as long as they are still gaining there is not much to worry about.

Started exactly one month early and ended one month early. Great starting date for Hawaii but not for Wisconsin
