Ok fruit are heading to the 50 day mark. Vines are terminated. There are older awful looking leaves on the old half of the plant. There are nice looking leaves on the newer part of the plant. Main vine is running but it is gone somewhere out of the patch. A few pop-up tertiary vines sticking up. So a question for those who do tissue testing...where do I get a leaf or two that represent what is really going on in the plant?

A plant pathologist told me to cover my eyes and pick/point. His reason is our eyes usually gravitate to picking leaves that aren’t a good (off color)representation of your plant.

Well, the lab (and other growers) have always advised me to choose the newest leaves that are fully grown. Also, they don’t test the leaf itself, they test the petiole (stalk) of the leaf.

I always understood you wanted to send in newer petioles which will tell you what is going on at the time of the picking, not older ones that tell you what was going on weeks before.
