My pumpkin sits on 1/4 inch plywood and sand---my plywood and pumpkin are slightly leaning to one side---can the gravity
of the pumpkin slightly leaning cause it to mis-shape in that
direction. With some hard work I think I could get it to lie
flat. What do you think? Thanks!

If it gets big enough, your pumpkins gravity will pull smaller pumpkins into orbit around it. When that happens you know you are a truly successful pumpkin grower. As far as the pumpkin growing on a surface that is not level, it is unlikely to effect the final shape of your fruit.

Yes, I feel early shaping has a big effect on how gravity will eventually effect your pumpkin. There's a good bit of how I feel in my diary this year and from 2017 as well if you'd like to know more about how I go for better shape, but to put it as simply as I can, the lobes can be used to adjust your level point early on. Once a flat spot develops however, it becomes much more difficult to correct.

Yep it will flow a little more on the down hill side if there is one

Thanks guys---I went ahead and leveled it per your suggestion. Was fairly easy to do---just made some
extra large shims to go under my plywood on the sloping
side.
