Smart guy & his 8 posts are better than anything in my 388 posts (or whatever). He and Debacco are keeping us on edge this year.

The scale has been fun, but a little challenging on getting readings I never set it up to "log data". I did this past week hook up a trail camera to take a picture of the scale, it works flawlessly at night, but not so great in the day. This week per request of Matt D was Day vs night growth so I should have some good numbers on that as the camera is functioning well at sunrise and sunset.
In order to really do this correctly this is what I'd do....and possibly might in the future, and I challenge others to do.
Scale linked to computer Trending weight on a graph, over layed with soil moisuture sensors, overlayed with temp and humidity, would be best in greenhouse with drip tape as no flucations with getting the scale wet (I cover everytime I water) but can't always be there for rain. Then you make tags for events like 2pm watered with 0-0-20 or sprayed at 8pm with product X. Then you can see patterns and how things are really effecting things. What i'm doing is fun, but to truly figure out how to get the most weight you need some good data. I just saw a scale in the garbage and threw something together quick.

Also note this is one pumpkin in one season, it may not be representative all pumpkins. I some other tests planned but with a wedding coming up at the end of the month, im strapped for both time and cash. I just hope to keep the plant healthy to see what really goes on in late september/early october.

I was thinking about using my crane scale. I could lift a pumpkin with rope going to the four cornes of a pallet if it was on a pallet. But ratcheting something up and down every day is pretty inferior to what mike's thinking...
