When measuring a fruits age, does day 1 begin on the day of pollination or the day after?

Not sure why this is such a difficult concept for so many people.
During the first year of a child's life, do people say that the kid is already one year old?

I don’t hear many people ask that question. Good question.

As a new grower I have had many questions that have been answered respectfully without feeling incompetent. Ask away Jordan. It was a good question.

I’ve never considered that question to be a bad one and I’ve seen it asked many many times. I’ve seen some bad replies though.

I just asked a few local growers this same question a couple days ago. Not a bad question at all!

Here's a follow up question. Do most people measure in am or pm? As one of those growers who takes meticulous notes on everything, am to pm makes a great difference when comparing your Kin to any kind of reference, especially early on. I always measure around 6AM, believing it's more accurate for day to day. ( Night time measurements vary too much on the days growing conditions- great day weather in my experience usually shows lower day growth and much more night growth, and visa versa, so morning measurements balance out and reflect the previous 24 hrs better). The down side though, is lower weights to record for the day. When does everyone else measure?

I always measure in the morning for my official numbers. I am with you on the day growth. I normally run about 2/3 less during the day than at night. Since I pollinate in the morning, it just seems to make since to measure in the morning.

We measure every 5 days until day 50, usually @ 7pm. After that it's every Friday evening until weigh off day.
Good luck all.

It doesn't really matter what time of day you measure, so long as you do it the same time of day each time you do it so that exactly 24 hours is between each measurement.

It does matter. The better the growing conditions during the day, the greater the lag in actual weight gains during said day. If you actually want to track growth accurately to see how external factors have affected growth during the previous 24 hours, you need to give the plant a chance to catch up to the days stresses to access actual growth. Taking measurements later in the day or night is like trying to track a football teams record for the season by scoring from halftime of 1 game to halftime of the next and saying it's still 4 quarters. It may be reliable for season ending stats, but not as a useful tool for determining optimum conditions for growth.
