Soak for 4 hours in a warm 85° water bath. Transfer to a moist, not wet soil medium. Keep warm at 85° for 4 days. In the old days this was an oven with the oven light on. Now it is a cooler with a thermostat. I do not sand and have never felt the need to.

Sonora! Beautiful town. I never forget to stop by Columbia candy kitchen when visiting or traveling through. I’d imagine you have rocky soil up there.

Do as Mr. Engel suggested, use a room, box whatever you have with a thermostat to keep the temp at a constant level, you should not have to water your containers during germination if you use the above method

Thank you all. I learn so much from this site. Yes Heatstroke Sonora is beautiful, and the town and people are so welcoming. Where we are the soil is more sandy.
