My soil test recommends 1.1 lbs/1000 sq ft of Sulfate. Are they talking about Ammonium Sulfate? What is the most common amendment for adding "Sulfate"? It also calls for 5 lbs/1000 of Elemental Sulfur. Are these two things similar or totally different? Will post link to my Grower Diary when the pic of the test gets published.

Many amendments have a sulfate form.Dont use ammonium sulfate for sulfate unless you need that much nitrogen which you likely dont. Gypsum calcium sulfate is a safer way to put down sulfate for most soils.

Sounds like they want you to acidify your soil based on the advice to add elemental sulfer. Ammonium is an acidic form of notrogen. So it may help. Thats a reasonable amount. They are different but what they have in common is they are both going to add sulfer and acidify your soil.

Elemental sulfur is recommended for lowering your ph. It is not in sulfate form. Bacteria in your soil convert elemental S to sulfuric acid(slowly over time). That sulfur will get further reduced to sulfate- then it will be available to plant. Its a mobile element and will wash out of your soil. The sulfate is a separate recommendation because the plant needs it earlier in the season than the elemental will be available through bacterial action.

Re-read the bold print on your recommendations just below Potash on the second page. Your lime is 2.7%. Utilizing ammonium sulfate at least in part will get you what you need depending on the formulation of product used.
