I like this one.

Sperry... I think Daletas made so many impressive crosses I predict one of his at the top. For sleepers the other Steve is at the top of the sleepers right now in terms of achievements and seed stock. I also think Pingrey deserves a look but I would vote he is the sleepiest of sleepers... not common to see his seeds.

I’m with you Caper842 on Eddy’s cross with the 1495. I grew the 1495 seed twice and both times it was heavy to charts and super thick inside at blossom and stem end.

Eddy, if you see this, what did the pollinator plant (1495 Stelts) grow for you? I don’t see it on pumpkin fanatic.

2157 Daletas it was taping 477 in and crossed with the 1625.5 Ganter

1901 Larsen
1984 Paton
1885 Barron
1852 Qualley
1922 Mendi

Pretty much all under the radar and some going cheap at auctions (pretty well all the top seeds from 2017 were cheap if you could even get them in an auction )

2138 Ceja or the 2166 Cutrupi might surprise also

Daletas 18 - any of his crosses could be great. Practically all we're pollinated by the big one.

Don't sleep on the 2091 Midthun! 2k lbs and no 2145 in it

I agree with Jeremy the 2091 Midthun. I also bet the 1962 Haist will be a monster.

I also like that 2091 midthun.Anything with LL"s 1781 in it is worth a try.I like the daletas 1927.5 and 2005 haist for big and a looker.

2114 Wallace:
2145.5 McMullen X 2624.6 Willemijns = What it IS by what it GREW---now, pollinate THAT with the 1756;

Oh, and the 284 Gerry '18 (1585 Werner X 1385 H/J) Both fruits were quite orange; I did not see this cross on PumpkinFanatic, so...woo-hoo. eg

Personally I think these will do well among many:

1927.5 Daletas (2363 Holland X 2624 Willemijns)
1824.5 Hazeltine (1742 Wolf X 1706 Kurilich)
1541 Groenewold (2043 Clementz X 2363 Holland)

2,152.00    Gantner, Debbie    Oshkosh    Wisconsin    United States    Nekoosa Giant Pumpkin Festival    1501 Vander Wielen    1418 Lehrer 17    465.0    2,050.00    5.0

This Kin was 5% heavy on the new chart that's heavy.Deb is not a typical heavy hitter with her growing methods. The 1501 in the hands of a modern equipped heavy hitter using silcates & water timing devices & moisture meters etc.. This seed could produce a 10% plus kin & be Orange. No disrespect to Deb She is a awesome grower.Just saying. You must know the grow(weather etc) to really judge a seed. There are so many sleepers most will never be found.Like Joe Ailts says "The herd mentality"is what get most seeds proven. However look at the 1911 I think it will ROCK the 2019 season as most HH will grow non orange heavy genetics.I hope some HH will grow the 1501.The best thing for this sport is to keep them orange like Karls 2416. Lets try to keep them orange!!

Thats right. She is a woman who kicked a lot of butts this year! Multiple times!

You go Deb!

IMHO Deb grows for color not size. It's not her growing techniques but her seed choices that had her not being a "typical heavy hitter". All of her pumpkins went heavy to chart in 2018. Her 1567 was 9% heavy. I have a print out of everything she did in 2018 for amendments and watering(no I won't share that). She easily beat Bubba's record without the fancy gadgets and hand watering out of barrels.lol

I will be growing the 1501 Vander Wielen again.

Bubba loves to share info and & he doesnt grow small ones except when he tries to grow two on one plant. Bubba vs Gantner... lets let em go one more round and then judge the winner!

I think Bubba was trying to say the 1501/2152 produced a fruit 500lbs over her(Debs) PB.In case the seed was a big factor one should think of trying the 1501 or the 2152. Shes got to be a great grower to hit 2152.Other great growers that happen to be female are Christy h,geneva e ,cindy t,glenna r and LL to name a few. These ladies are great growers.Pumpkiun plants don't discriminate.

Deb chooses to try and grow something that looks like a pumpkin. This limitation alone makes 2k a tough row to hoe. But with her seed, Haist's 2416 and the 1501, maybe the gap is closing in a hurry.

Good luck to all those who are growing orange this year. I think that we need to see pumpkins grown off the 2416, 2152 and more off the 1501. I intend on growing several of these and crossing them into a proven consistent orange producer.

I might start to discriminate towards local this year. Tobeck Gadberry and Holland are in if I can manage to do six... Haist and Garofano and Clementz for non-local.

I'm glad to see the buzz that the 1501 and its progeny are getting, but there are a lot of 1810 Werner progeny out there that I'd argue were just as nice looking and are going for cheap at auction. Take the 1937 Werner--orange progeny of an orange 1810 self (2112) crossed with the 2145. 1933 Stelts also looks real promising.

1911 Urena will be the most widely grown seed in the country. It was a great plant for the 2528 Geddes.
Crosses to consider for it:
2152 Gantner, 2469 Daletas, 2416 Haist, 1933 Stelts, 1501 Vander Wielen--all of these bring weight and great color!!!

so, i guess, 1384 - 1626 is not considered to be Heavy Hitter status. well, her 351.6 and the result, 1037 Gantner-Bird are each astonishingly-orange; i had trouble sleeping BEFORE seeing those, lol---think i'll start sticking my own progeny on PF.com - i feel left out, when i have some equivalents available; Hell, I even bought a 1912 Carter tonight when i do not need any more (orange) seeds! eg

With keeping them big and orange what would you use as a pollinator for 2152 Gantner, 2469 Daletas, 2416 Haist, 1933 Stelts, 1501 Vander Wielen. I don't have all these seeds this is Elk list. I'm cutting down to three plants. Pal2 if you still have my address send me that 1912.

I like the 2152 or the 2005 haist as a pollinator for big and orange.

a fool and his seed(s) are soon parted, Bill, lol---
Pheewww... i don't have your address, lol---

2145 McMullen for a pollinator for all of them.
i think the presence of ANY selfing within the union will make the progeny pop; just a hunch, and, not the one in my back, lol---eg

2005 Haist. Mama was a big one in that cross too. I'm growing it and the 2255 Zaychkowsky.
