I noticed a mark on my pumpkin I thought since we were getting close I should cut it out it was a little bit of rot from a crack now I have a mark on the pumpkin that has too coming out from the pumpkin. I have a fan on it but should I wipe off the goo or let it stay

where is the crack? It is very common for pumpkins to get shallow cracks on the stem side as they grow bigger. Almost all of mine get this. They tend to ooze a thick whitish liquid until they seal back up. These cracks do not disqualify you from a weighoff. If the crack is on a side or a blossom end then it is more critical. Can you describe what you see as rot..and do you have a picture of it. You can crack slightly stem side without rot and ooze...if you really have rot, then you have that needs to be taken care of.

I will post a picture it is on the stem side it was a crack that I thought looked a little like rot so I cut it out and put a fan on it it feels dry now but I see some brown does that mean there’s still rot or it’s that what it looks like when it’s dried out? Thanks for the help

It doesn't look too bad. I would just wipe it off, and paint it with full strength Daconil. Some growers would put a fan on it and dust it with sulfur. Either one sounds good to me.

I looked at the diary post also. Hard to tell from the picture but my initial impression that it doesn't look drastic. If you saw some closeup pictures of the stem side of my bigger pumpkin...you would be going crazy. If you are very concerned as an alternative to what Iowegian suggested could be captan fungicide or as another grower suggest earlier this year isopropyl alcohol. Stem side cracks probably are going to happen if you are pushing the pumpkin to best growth. Experience will teach you when to worry or not.
