Thanks Tom, I like the way the prize fund is spread down. You don't have to take first at Gale Woods to get a good prize. Thank you for your help with the tomato challenge. I hope to see a big one take 6th place. Also, I just noticed on the St Croix Growers, that they are listing all 3 minnesota weighoffs on their webpage. Thank you SCGA....this area needs all three weighoffs. Lets have fun in a few weeks..the highlight of the season is coming.

I like that the tomatoes are paying down to 6th place. As a first time grower of giant tomatoes, I feel I could maybe walk away with something instead nothing. Who knows what I could be growing in my junk green house.

Hobbit, I think you might be headed this direction. Pack one of your big beefsteaks in the glove box, yes I do read your diary :)...you never know what could happen this late in the season.

I’m thinking on it bnot. My largest beefsteak circumference is now 21 inches. I don’t have a clue as to how other measurements are done on them. Lol

21 inches has a chance for money...using marv's chart that puts in range of about 3 1/2 pounds. At the weighoff I can demonstrate how to do the 3 way measurements and we can do some checking to find what mFactor everyone is at. Has there ever been 10 tomatoes weighed at the same gpc weighoff? Anyone if you are heading to Gale Woods and have a tomato bring it. This should be the biggest tomato event of the year.

Tony, I think you would find it a challenge to buy a 1 pound+ tomato at the store. 1 pound is about 15 inches cc. I am in email contact with too many tomato growers in the area. I expect 6th place to be much more than anything that could be bought at the store.
