Growing correct companion plants with my plants. Grandpa planted potatoes and pumpkins on opposite ends of his 280 farm because of all the problems potatoes gave his pumpkins.

Patience, no more knee jerk decisions, focus more on even watering with less saturated soil, Neptune’s fish and seaweed (lots of it), balanced fert program going light but consistent. Im doing well now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I get 2 blowouts in the same day ending my season.

" Neptune’s fish and seaweed" funny you say that, biggest improvement i've seen on my plants health has been this product.

well... The irish in me would rather die than give up me potatoes. . . Feel free to let me know what kind of problems please. But trying to focus some positives. Already ordered me a truckload of everything that can go wrong...

Weeds are growing great. The best pigweed and foxtail in years.

Plant your potatoes in their own area away from your pumpkins with some marigolds and basil and you'll do just fine. Bugs will be repelled by these 2 plants.

At the start of this year and in previous seasons I did not have confidence in my ability to set a female with just one male. I've had plenty of practice now (3rd year...) and if i carefully rock and roll around the flower lobes with just one male i can get complete coverage. I can see where the pollen is--it appears lighter. With one good male I can get r done. This is good because I had a couple early sets where i thought i needed more males and as a result they had to be 'x open' with the few males i used all coming from different plants just to try to ensure the that the pollination would take. Pollinations are going great now. Even when only one male is available to make a cross. It just took a lot practice.

G---i stick the first or only male right-into the center of the stigma, make its presence known, and then DAB, not rub, the outer edges of the stigma lobes evenly and even around more than once---in this way, each part of the male contacts a corresponding part of the stigma---otherwise, the pollen is probably rolled-offa the male before it gets all the weigh around the stigma. and, to answer this post? stay away from OBVIOUS bees' nests that you later-on cannot believe you didn't see! i took 5 or 6 hits on Monday---wish i coulda seen my reaction from space, lol---eg

Planting corn for wind control. Next year the corn is going to surround each pumpkin plant. It grows fast, it can be 4ft or higher by the time the plants come out of the hoop house.

Hobbit, that's what my grandfather did for this commercial patch when he was alive.

One of the newest things I'm trying this year is staying out of the pumpkin patch.
Seems to be working really good so far.
