pretty sure all my plants have it. squash bugs got to them basically a day after putting them into ground. think they spread the yvd? Main vine and secondaries seem to not be moving at all. My goal at this point is to hopefully grow a decent carving pumpkin. my question is if a plant can ever grows out of yvd and grow a pumpkin or would i have a better chance throwing a back up plant for hopes of a 100 to 200 lb pumpkin.
thanks!

plant will ultimately die from yvd, you would be best off puting in back up plants. pumpkin will also most likely abort at some point.

Youll wanna pull the plants so not to further the infection. As long as its there more bugs will bite the plants, then fly off to some other cucurbit and infect them as well. Now is the time to kill the damn sBugZ BaZtards... so they are not there to over winter and pop out in spring. Do you have other gardens close by that may be contributing? Like a community garden?

I got CYVD in 3 plants last year from Stink Bugs. Pulled all 3 plants after watching growth slow to a crawl and then stop.

If you in fact have yvd, the plant might start a fruit but it will abort. I would go with the back-up. You need both a systemic and contact insecticide. How often depends on insect population. Cucumber beetles won't even land on a plant recently treated with a contact.

I have never had a plant completely die from YVD, but it will abort all fruit and the plant will do nothing for the rest of the season. Most guys rip the plants out as soon as they know for sure it's YVD. It is a devastating disease. Very frustrating.

The plants I have had with y v d all tipped over with in 7 days.., they turn yellow rapidly and tip over ... if you think you have it ... it doesn’t take long to know...

Home of happy lil plants

Healthy strong plant it takes about 1month from the first sign to die.
first sign...vine or 2 pointing upward(not clustered) just on pause after slowfrom 1ft daily to 8in to 4in to 2 to 0 and Pause.
Next- all the vines make it to this pause point
vines never grow another inch again.
the bronzing between leaves starts(seemingly overnight
any kins that were going will have stopped when vines did
full blown Gold/bronze color leaves will occur next followed by collapse
