How much do you cut back on fertilization during, and right
after you pollinate, and for how long?

I don't change anything. I check my soil ec to not build up too much salt and steady as she goes for the whole season.

I remember when I first started growing that people use to say back off on everything during pollination. I was then taught to feed right through pollination this is what I have been doing the past few years. I've never had a problem.

I was told the same thing as So.Cal. when I started now it's carry on as usual we just had a week of 30 degree Celsius plus weather and I never lost a pollination stick with what works for you and I hope you have a great year

I hold off fertilizer until the pumpkin exceeds beach ball size and I'm sure its not going to abort. And after that point, its mainly just minimal fertilizer to head off slow-downs. Its finally dry enough that I can start using some tea, mainly for good bacteria to fend off disease.

I push the plants from the day they go in the ground until the day I pick the pumpkin.

I try to get my soil balanced to begin the season and worry about getting things out of balance with added fertilizer. But excess rain can leach out nitrogen. This year, even with all the rain I am seeing nitrogen deficiency only on one field pumpkin, since I try to use mostly organic N sources. Organic N doesn't leach out as fast as chemical sources. So there is less chance of getting out of balance.
