The Wisconsin Giant Pumpkin Growers are a group of growers throughout the world. Our club supports all GPC Wisconsin Weigh-Offs. We offer help in weigh-off management, and oversee that the weigh-offs are conducted per GPC guidelines.

Membership in the WGPG is not necessary to enter into any of the weigh-offs we support. The Wisconsin Weigh-Offs are open to any one who can make it, all are welcomed !!!!! Each Weigh-Off has their own award and prize structure that should be listed on the GPC site!

What's unique is that we have awards and prizes to recognize our member's accomplishments.

As relating to the GPC : (Ruben did not need to make a trip! :)

And as related to how they did overall in a WGPG supported Weigh-Off.

Feel free to contact a WGPG member if you have any questions.

The closest weigh off for me is Nekoosa. It's 4 hours one way. I have to leave my pumpkin and come back the next day. It doesn't make sense to go. If you had a weigh off in Hudson, I would go. You could attract people from SCGA.

mr coyote, talk to event organizers and explain your situation and maybe they might let you take it home with you

Henry, Why would want to spend an extra day at a weigh off along with incurring extra expenses of staying over night? Those expenses cut into what money I could win. The prize fund is good but I don't want to tie up an entire weekend with 1 weigh off. I go to weigh offs to try to recoup some of the money I spend on this hobby.

Unfortunatly some weigh off require those pumpkins to be displayed for a period of time. If these circumstances don't meet your needs. There are other weigh off that dont require this. As far as changing the requirements for some I am against it. Requirements are in place for all not some.

Wilie..there are three weighoffs closer to you..Gale Woods, Anoka and Stillwater. The closest Wisconsin weighoff is Nekoosa. Unforfunately, it conflicts with Gale Woods. Two years ago, I went with my daughter to Nekoosa. It was an interesting event. They had a many vender tents set up selling all kinds of things. It kept my 12 year old daughter interested..going booth to booth. At the same time..there was also an antique tractor display. That kept my interest, when I wasn't hanging out at the pumpkin weighoff. I wish Gale Woods and Nekoosa were on separate days. I would love to be able to go to both.

Bnot, I plan on going to the Gale Woods weigh off now that ALL of my Karkos tomato plants have germinated. I hope to give everyone a run for the money. I was using Nekoosa as an example.

Please clarify you don't need to be a member to enter any WGPG weigh off. I believe you need to be a member by June 1st to claim any prize money.

Nekoosa is what got me in to this last year. We stayed in the water park up in Roethschild and made a family weekend out of it. Nice little festival, there was a lady selling socks out of the back of a van that qualified as weird. She was even parked down by the river.

Haven’t got to meet any of the WI growers in person yet, had work stuff during the spring meeting, but hopefully I can manage to get a pumpkin to a weigh off this year in my first attempt. So far my spring has had 30 inches of snow, drought, and near record heat. I literally stood in a snow bank and got bit by a mosquito this spring.... welcome to Wisconsin!
