I broke the entire root ball off while transplanting my pumpkin from pot to ground. Will the vines take root,or am I done for this season?

It’s not to late to start new ones. Try seeing how it does

Place your plant in the ground right up tight with the cot leaves. New roots should form along the plants stem that you buried. Problem is it is a slow process and you might be better off starting a new seed? Do both and Father Time will help you pick the better plant!

yes, good, and taking that one step further, bury everything about the plant but the leaves and the main tip, depending on whether it has laid a vine down yet or not---for example: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=289755 if you have or can get any Mycorrhizae or a product with it IN it, mix some of that in as you bury anything. good luck----eg

I have extra plants... not sure where you are located. I am in the NE section of the state.

You can also treat it like a cutting and put it in a glass of water it will grow new roots. Takes time...
