Whats up with those plants you just set out?
It looks like I already see a slight sign of fusarium and a touch of phytophthora,,,, maybe a bit of pythium and just a tiny bit of verticillium...?
I could be wrong but any disease guys please chime in.
You better start hitting those things with the kitchen sink!

with all due respect and limited pumpkin wisdom, i'd like to suggest that there is nothing wrong with this picture. the plants are just showing their colors in the yellowing which doesn't cover THAT much leaf area, whereas i would worry about it only if the area was an entire leaf or two; i see no actual legginess, in that legginess occurs in the stem while the plants are still in the peat pots---these guys are just doing what they are intended to do---grow! it is upward only because they are not YET directed to go anywhere; IIIIII would put a bamboo stake on either side of the plant(s), up against the leaves to guide them in only TWO directions, either forward or backward (similar to a pumpkin cannon, pointed forward at a 45-degree angle); then, i would put a third and fourth, criss-crossed, up against the leaves from behind the plant, to gently goad it in the right direction as well, SORT OF like what Richmond Dave is doing, but NOT as closely to the ground---using just the soft tension of the leaves themselves as the pressure: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=288872; almost lastly, i would love to see someone add black metal clips from Staples to the forward-most leaf to accomplish all of this in one shot. the GUIDANCE is the main thing; they are in greenhouses, so a sudden windburst won't be the cause of them plopping down. other than that, i'd bet that if the temp. were just kept above like 40, sooner than it seems they WOULD be fine. PS---using the lights could be more useful if they were put in FRONT of the plants. plants grow toward light. good luck! eg

That’s some great advice, I’m gonna do the opposite of everything Richmond Dave does.

Just so you know I was just playing. Ricks a good buddy and we both have a 24 hour disease battle in our patches. Its a bit of a nightmare so just trying to have some fun with our nightmare.:) 2 of those diseases won't even show themselves for a month or two.
Now Rick, lets keep battling and keep that disease pushed back long enough to get to 2000 this year!

lol, to all---it had crossed my mind to grin as i typed that there were FOUR diseases visible to anyone that i wouldn't even know how to determine, but i also wanted to throw down a few ideas that i felt would be helpful even if it was in jest. Now, who lives near a Staples?

I'm not giving up unless they die "Q". These thing may be 3 ft tall before they lay down, I better stop giving them growth hormones. but it seems like they are starting to come along. Slow and easy win the race.
