Hi Folks. It's that time again for a reminder for those of you that have your soil tested. I am collecting soil tests from growers, and compiling them into a ms excel database for comparison. Currently, i have over 230 different results from pumpkin growers all over who have donated to this project. What do I need? well, besides the actual numbers, i also need to know where you are from, when you sent in the sample, what lab you used, and what pumpkin(s) were grown where the sample was taken.
ok, the frequently asked q's:
have i found any trends yet?
nope, and i don't plan on doing any statistics with the numbers until i have more samples. i may do some preliminary number crunching this spring before the niagara falls seminar, as i plan on bringing the file with me.
can i have a copy of the file?
yes, BUT i want your soil test(s) first. why? well, first of all, i'm trying to get as many samples as i can. waiting until i get the numbers encourages more people to send them first. second, if you have never done a soil test, the numbers mean absolutley nothing to your individual situation if you don't know what's in your ground to begin with.
i email people a copy of the ms excel file, updated with their entry, back to them when they give me their results. if you don't have excel installed on your computer, you can download a free excel viewer from microsoft's website. you can also see the results on the aggc website. on the aggc the tests are tied into a grower's account, but (at least for me) the excel file is slightly more viewer-friendly when looking at the rough numbers. i will be emailing an updated version of the soil file to the aggc shortly.
I am looking for as many samples that i can get, whether it is new ground or "successful soil". Of course, there are some that i would love to see for obvious reasons.
thank you to all who have contributed so far!

I'll send you my soil test results directly from Poland in spring, becouse much has changed since fall... May I send both, the spring, and fall results?

Would the results from last spring's test be beneficial since I haven't tested in the fall?

certainly. i enter when the sample was taken for each test anyway, so you can compare that way also. most growers sample in the fall, but some also sample in the spring to see if there are any changes.
