good question, but i don't have an answer. i have all of my seeds in 1-gallon glass jars from a local deli, with tight-fitting lids and desiccant packets from a copier dealership in there. i feel the drier the better, but i still HAVE to get at them to cure some cabin fever, you know? i would expect that seeds in a vacuum would stand the best chance of any at lasting the longest.....hmmmm.... my seeds from 2003 are kept in quart-sized Mason jars, soon to have desiccant in there as well....good luck with this!..

So far I have always stored my seeds in a zip lock bag in the freezer. I have planted watermelon seeds that had been stored for 8 years in the freezer with good luck. I was thinking about getting a vacuum food saver and packaging my pumpkin seeds and them freezeing them. dude

Doug;
Bring them all to the growers meeting 02-08-04 and give them all away, solves all your problems.

Small paint cans work well. New cans cost only a few $ at local paint store.

I use a vacuum sealer and then freeze the seeds once they're sealed.

Dude, I also use a vacuum sealer, but I don't let it suck all the air out before I seal it. If a few seeds are laying in a precarious position, I'm afraid it might damage the seed.....you've seen what a vacuum sealer can do to a pop can. I stuff seed packets in a large bubble envelope, then the envelope goes in a vacuum bag, the air is removed until the bag is just snug against the envelope, & then the seeds are stored in the freezer. This has worked well for me the last couple of years.
