I dumped 8" (8" deep) of Steer Poo on top of my pumpkin patch. I plan to let the Poo sit for the Winter. Once spring hits, I will till into the ground. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Is Steer Poo good stuff? Should I wait to till in Spring?

I'm sorry, San Luis Obispo is a little far for me to travel to help with tilling. You'll have to find someone closer to home. Steer Poo is good stuff. Spring should be fine for tilling unless you have a very dry winter, in which case I would get it in the soil sooner so it doesn't blow away.

I vote to till it in now. Keeps Nitrogen volatilization down.

I had a sample tested last month and each ton of manure contained 2.7kg Phosphate,6.7kg potash and 2kg magnesium and it was pH 7.8.
The cattle were bedded on straw and fed grass silage with a little Barley and it was 15 months old.
I've been whacking it on the patch for a couple of years but will have to give it a miss this winter as it has put my potassium levels sky high.
I had been putting on 100lbs of Potassium per 1000 sq.ft
each year with cow manure alone.

Labs dry the sample submitted prior to testing. So after removing the moisture, the sample should weigh a good deal less. Did that lab report to you the levels based on dry values?

Results = Kg per ton.
Thats the exact wording they used,I took that as fresh weight but you are changing my mind Steve,can't check with them til Monday.
They do quote a dry matter 22% for the sample so if its kg per ton D.M. that makes it 22lbs per 1000 sq.ft.

My soil test result was 3886 Kg/Ha. Potassium with the Potassium % base saturation 18.08.
