            | svrichb | South Hill, Virginia | It was bound to happen sooner or later. Those dump trucks just didn't carry enough so Mike gets a tractor trailer to come out and dump a mountain of compost on his patch. I know the picture is a few days old now but I just got around to commenting on it. It looked like a scene from the old Star Trek where there is always that low lying fog on those alien planets.
I'm guessing the 30 foot tall windbreaks and 50,000 gallon water tanks will follow shortly.

            | gordon | Utah | Brent- I'm offened that you haven't classified me as such also !!!! But i can clearly see why... I post several nice pictures of manure piles... 2 load 18 cu yards each ... a huge trailer dumping it...then right after Mike comes along and upstages me with much larger rig, which means a very much larger pile, then also has a bobcat to move it around... All i had was a lousy wheelbarrow. then to top it all off he has mist rising all over ... ok... i agree with you ...i don't deserve it. once again maybe next year. :(

            | Urban Farmer (Frantz) | No Place Special | Brent, thanks for the Nesbitt classification. Yes my compost has been tested. As far as renting the Bobcat, $100 and breakfast but it belonged to a friend so not sure what the "real" cost would be to rent. It only took 1 1/2 hrs to move, spread and level 3 dump truck loads of Manure and the semi load of compost. The manure was free, just $100 for delivery. The compost was free, just $60 for delivery and a decent pumpkin for desplay in the fall at the compost center. As far as future endeavors, I have 14 (oops) 13 chicken eggs in the incubator at this moment that will be future providers of manure to my home patch. The chicks will roam free in my garden to poooo as the please from March 1st until planting time. I have a bid on a tractor on ebay, comes with a plow (dirt), bucket loader, and snow plow. Will look and work perfect in the patch! Not sure about the wind breaks and water tanks..... this year anyhow! | 12/4/2003 10:18:26 PM |
