            | wk | ontario | I have been asked by Chris Lyons who is helping with the Grower sessions to ask all in pumpkinland what topics they would be most interested in.....example..soil...pathogens in soil etc.....he wants to break away from the same old same old....my vote is Soil prep and soil pathogens..................wayne | 11/30/2003 8:52:40 AM |

            | JMattW | Omaha, NE (N41-15-42 ) | Now, as a relatively new grower who will be attending for the first time, a little bit of the "same old same old" might be nice. | 11/30/2003 9:04:38 AM |

            | LIpumpkin | Long Island,New York | I dont know about the rest of you Niagara veterans but i left last year wanting to know more about Nematodes.......lol | 11/30/2003 9:12:43 AM |

            | southern | Appalachian Mtns. | Increasing soil O2 levels and aereation | 11/30/2003 9:18:27 AM |

            | Big Kahuna 26 | Ontario, Canada. | Wayne, along with soil prep could a review of understanding soil testing be included. | 11/30/2003 9:50:02 AM |

            | mudflap | Spanish Ontario | HI wayne more on soil compaction ph levels | 11/30/2003 10:24:19 AM |

            | Drew Papez [email protected] | Ontario | Learning how to analize soil tests, more about micro nutients and your proper ratios. There is a great video put out by george webster with a expert in this field. A&L lab guys are too basic and are more experts in the farming aspect of growing field pumpkins. | 11/30/2003 10:32:18 AM |

            | Good Girl (April) | Chippewa Falls, WI | Hi Wayne... I would have to agree on the Soil prep, soil pathogens, & understanding Soil testing... Well we all know I need as much help as I can get on my soil..LOLSince I think there is alot of new people going to Niagra this year, and it seems that you really need to get the soil right. You could have the best seeds but if the ph's are not correct it won't matter...

            | Cowpie | Ontario | I really liked the work-shop idea they tried in Guelph a few years ago. You just signed up for the class that was of the most interest to you. As I remember there was a class on genetics and one class for beginners. I would really like to see a presentation on genetic cross planning and maybe a predicted "hot" seeds from the experts from the seeds of '03. | 11/30/2003 11:56:55 AM |

            | Giant Veggies | Sask, Canada | I'm with Drew on that one. SOil Analaysis.
Ps. You might end up with a bus load (ok converted school bus) of Western Canadian Growers at yer seminar next spring.

The words out that besides the WCPGA Seminar the Niagara one is the next best thing. (snicker)

You'll be able to recognize us we'll be the ones wearing our brand *NEW* WCPGA Member T-shirts, Cowboy Boots with an "I love Canadian Beef" bumper sticker on Da Bus.

Hell we may even wear some pants with our t-shirts and boots.

            | Tremor | [email protected] | Topics of advanced or unusual/interesting nature?
 -Growth hormones
 -Advanced pruning
 -Enriched Co2 growing environment
-"Alternative" soil amendments. ie Calcined clay, Perlite, etc.
 -Greenhouse keeping of clones.
 -Indoor (outdoor?) artificial lighting.
-If this is an event on US soil, have him contact me. I can coerce chemical manufacturer reps into speaking at US events if their schedules allow. I'm not prejudice against Canadians. But I know that the reps have asigned territories that never cross international lines. These events can usually be accredited with the States Pesticide licensing authority for recertification credits for certified applicators.

            | BenDB | Key West, FL | What Drew said and a topic on Calcium | 11/30/2003 1:34:29 PM |

            | steelydave | Webster, NY | I would like to hear, with pictures if possible, more about pruning and burying vines. Also, fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide schedules. This is probably a review for most, but I would get something out of it.
 Thanks

            | Andy W | Western NY | I could do a small presentation on the soil results that i have collected so far. I have over 200 of them, and hopefully i will have enough by the seminar to start doing some sort of statistical analysis.

            | Tree Doctor | Mulino, Oregon | A talk on how beneficial organisms (Mycorrhizae & Bacteria) affect the soil and nutrient availabiltiy (aka "The Soil Food Web"). Very interesting topic | 12/1/2003 12:50:11 AM |

            | Joze (Joe Ailts) | Deer Park, WI | Looks like the majority is asking for a "Soil" Themed event. I second this motion. Lets get as much information on the table about soil prep, analysis, and long term management as we can. The lecture on nematodes last year was fairly interesting, however i dont feel that it applied to the majority of pumpkin growers. Targeting lectures to growing bigger pumpkins will ultimately draw the most interest and usefullness. | 12/1/2003 9:45:16 AM |
