I joined this "Great" site to learn about pumpkins. Now there is so many rude commits, and nasty remarks as to what someone says on here. Some growers can say what ever they want to on here. If someone else says anything, growers gang up on them. No human is perfect, we all make mistakes. Only GOD was perfect.
So what if someone collects your seeds and might trade one or two for a much better seed. You might buy a use car from someone and trade it in a year or two for something different. You might buy a house and move into a different one someday. I wrote to thirty growers last year and now I have seven "Hot" seeds. Don Langevin has expressed in his Giant Pumpkin books to write to as many growers as you can and ask for seeds. So that someday you have a better chance at having a "HOT" see without you having to pay $200.00 or more for one.
I think it's time for me to say "Good-Bye" to this site. Different ones can say what ever they want to in a chat room and get away with it. Others and myself can say something and we get rude and nasty e-mail. I'm tired of some of the things I read on here about growers making fun of others and saying degrading things towards them.
This site I believe was made to learn about the sport of growing pumpkins. Growers need to respect one another. There is enough fighting in this world we life in.

I have been spending time on A.G.G.C. checking out the heavy hitters. Finding out what was grown by them, getting there e-mail and home address. I have become friends with some of them. I have gotten several heavy-hitters to help me out with what i've done wrong and what needs to be corrected. I got three great proven seeds being sent to me and should be getting them in the mail this week. Some of these guys don't post or reply to anything on here becasue of all the unjustified remarks that are made. Many of theys guys only come to this site when there is a featured growers chat.
I think it's time that growers on here should RESPECT one another on here for who they are, and what they are.
Do you say rude and bad things everyday to your wife, your children, your parents, your grandparents and your friends in everyday life?

What I have said, I hope some growers on here learn to respect this site and change there life style as to what they say on here. When you go to write back to what someone has posted, Reply with something you would say to your wife or your children or a love one. One hand washes the other and someone might do you a great favor someday. Good Bye and hope you all grow a 1,000 pound pumpkin someday.

It was just a couple weeks ago a new visitor to big pumpkins was impressed on the goodness she/he saw on this site. How far have we fallen? We all have our differences, to trade or not to trade, is it in the soil or the seed, is it a squash or a pumpkin... We even have a heavy topic going about religion in the non-pumpkin section. Humility needs to be apart of our opinions and even to our facts. I don't know about anybody else but I have to choose my words carefully when I make a post or I know my foolishness and arrogance will come out. Jim Ford

well sorry to see you go.......its a great site and there are lots of great folks....yes sometimes we all can tick one another off, but in life that can happen with the best of friends....pumpkinbrat you have to learn to let some stuff go......now when people get personal I can understand your feelings...send a quick polite e-mail to Big Pumpkins expressing your feelings.....I am sure the they have transcripts of the chat to review....remember typed words don't always reveal the true intent of ones comments..sometimes the writer is laughing as they right and some folks take their words as an attack......see you in chat :0)

WTG Ken.This network helped me get started, and I still find it helpful,as are most of the members. However of late I must admit I find it more entertaining than informative, and am amazed at the length of some of the posts and the one-upmanship that is so obvious.Oh well,it'll run its course, just like Springer and the Osmonds!!Looking forward to seeing you again in March Ken.

Brian,

I hope my thoughts and opinions on trading have not caused you any bad feelings, again all I want is to give a seed of mine to a grower who will grow it, too many requests from friends, neighbours, growers and charities, not enough seeds. I feel kinda bad about bringing up the whole ethical values of trading thing, but lets face it some folks are taking a huge advantage of others generosity.

I like your pumpkins brian, hang in there only 6 months to go!

Brian,
BP.com is like a microcosm of society. You have good & bad, rich & poor, givers & takers......and friends & enemies. You make it through this everyday in life, so I know it can be easy here.
P.S. It took me awhile to figure this out as well....live & learn..........Paul

This sort of thing happens on most threads and is best just ignored as there is little else you can do.

Brian,
I got hit bad a few times. It happens. People are all different. You just have to consider the source and continue on. Just ignore the few that cause you a problem and stick around for those of us that appreciate having you around.
Either way grow'em big and enjoy.
