As most of you know Brigitte and I are very competetive against each other. She just about caught me with that heavy pumpkin of hers. Now she thinks she can carve better. I have given her the unfair advantage of showing her my finished work. Although I know I will kick her ass. I will let you guys vote...So when she posts pictures of her hack job. Please vote for Mr.Smiley or whatever she calls her creation.

Wow. Shannon you carved that all out yourself? That was a very nice job you did. I just had my Son and Nephew look at it as well. We all said a 10 if this was your first time carving a pumpkin. So you got three (3) votes here. This should give you five ahead of Brigitte. May the best Lady win. Good Luck Shannon

excuse me, unfair advantage? shannon made the choice to post his carving pictures, and then he brought up the idea of a contest afterwards. he put himself at a disadvantage. i did not use his pictures to help me carve mine anyway. i had my drawings and plans done way before i even saw shannon's pictures.

Sorry Shannon. Cantaloup freckles & all, I'd have to give this one to Brigette. Better attention to detail, depth & scale.
That aside. Either one would likely trounce whatever pathetic mess I am likely to make of our sole survivor. I'm about as artistic as a rock & would be better of letting garden slugs run a trace or 2 around our pumpkins! LOL! I guess we'll see next week.
You both did great!

Both you guys did a great job. The only way to truely judge a carved pumpkin is at night while it is lit up. Any night time pics Brigitte? Shannon gets my vote....get the 600 watt light.

OK, thought I would take this to a local polygamous famiy to settle this once and for all. Consists of 1-husband, 11-wives, 81-children. I showed the pictures to the husband. He picked Shannon's, naturally(polygamous men don't side with women). Figuring that the family must follow the father, I thought Shannon was a for sure shoe-in. Well, the rest of the votes went like this. 11-wives for Brigitte(must have been feeling a little rebellious I guess). Children- 31 for Brigitte, 41 for Shannon. Results- 42 for Shannon, 42 for Brigitte. As for my project of settling this, oh well. As for my vote since I am not a polygamous. My vote is for Brigitte. LOL

Yay...Brigitte...you have my vote, hands down. (I think I will leave my humble sculpture under its tarp.) It is shaped like a wagon wheel and so I sculpted it as such...a wagon wheel. What ever do you use to "scrape the sides that way?

My vote is for Brigitte's Pumpkin. But, both are pretty cool looking.

Two cool cats carve pumpkins. Both very nice. Brigitt gets our family of votes. Two for us and one for the nine year old grandson. I'm afraid Shannon is going to have to stop messing with mother nature. :)

april, i had the help of a very nonartistic kid who just carved the tongue, the tongue stud, and a tiny bit on the sides. i wouldn't consider that a lot of help. besides, he just did what i told him to. :-)

Be it known that many great artists, of days gone by, had students that helped them on their now famous works.
