Is Mike just swamped or is the server messed up? I hope he's OK.
Of the 14 Pumpkins that went over 1000 Lbs at Topsfield, only 6 have been put on the list. 8 are still not there. It was requested that I send Mike some images & he said I knocked out his email. I don't recall this being a problem last year. Is this sport really growing too fast for the "internet infrastructure" we all count on for information? It seems that with all the weighoff data he must get it would take nearly a year to post it all if he's working the website alone. There is no way that our $5.00 subsciptions make it lucrative enough to quit the old day job no matter how much one enjoys updating their own website. And no matter how great it is.
I think I'll send in my dues early this year.

I think a lot of growers have just been too busy to submit info.

The info is worth at least $10 to the average grower. Then again, there are some who are really "strapped for cash". I think that Ben is correct. Many growers won't post information until they retreive their seed......and that may not happen until after Holloween.

I think Mike is doing a pretty good job of getting the information up on the site. The lag factor comes from growers who don't submit their information or give it to someone who can. Believe it or not, there are still a significant number of people who don't use the internet, or computers. Some of them even grow giant pumpkins! Of the data I have submitted this year it has usually made it onto the site in less than 72 hours. Photo attatchments do need to be resized for the site. I think all of us are greatful that he has this for a winter hobby. As for the growth of the sport, it has gone way beyond what many of us had expected. I think the people who participate here and on the AGGC are just the tip of the iceberg. Many people do this just to compete with relatives friends and neighbors or to have the biggest on their block when the trick or treater arrive. Many others are motivated only to grow the biggest pumpkin they can and genetics and seeds are only of interest when it is time to plant, and that interest may only go as far as picking the seed from the 800 lb. fruit over the 600 lb. fruit. Don't worry Steve. Mike will be getting info in all winter no doubt and we have quite a few long dark cold and wet months to go though it and plan for next spring.

I'm just guessing, but I think Mike is swamped. It may take awhile before all the information is posted.
