After losing all my plants this year I had to use all my creative pumpkin-related energy elsewhere. For me, the product of this season was an idea to authenticate seeds and create a central place for distributing them.
I corresponded with some seasoned growers and I got some great ideas which I integrated into the service. It was very interesting that their concerns were almost identical. It makes me think that the finished product will satisfy growers in general.
Actually, the first people I ran it past were John and Ken. They were very supportive and gave me permission to plug it on their message boards.
I see it as another service to the competitive gardening community. We have a listserv, a how-to book, a genetics database and this community website. I think this service was just a matter of time.
When you get chance, go to http://www.SeedOutlet.com and let me know what you think. You won't find much in the way of seeds there right now but I have some on the way and if you are interested in listing yours please contact me.

That is realy cool, but I am quite disapointed. Don't get me wrong - I wanted to order some seeds now, but I saw that s\the seeds are deliverd only to US or Canada... :-( I think that many growers from Europe and Auystralia would also like to order some seeds. If it is possible, please do something about it.

It's a nice idea Brent, but isn't that what John and Ken do now? Maybe it will take some of the work off of them. Good luck with it.

It is very similar to what Ken and John do with the "Seeds" page. I checked with first because of that and they support the idea. I think there is probably more seeds that people want sent out than they can to handle.

Brent, Your proposal has definite merit. Last year, I proposed on BP.com that the regional clubs handle the tasks of sending out seed. The idea was received with "less enthusiasm" that expected. You are providing a valuable service to many growers. Hence, I am sending you some seed from my 2003 pumpkins as well as some from previous years.

I think Brent has a great concept going. This year ALL seeds from my pumpkins from this year and past years, will be EXCLUSIVELY distributed at Brent's site. Please don't e-mail me or send me seed requests via bubble pack. My seeds will be available at Brent's site soon! Due to the unique and original tamperproof packaging, there will never be any doubt if a seed is "GENUINE" again!

I think this is a great idea! Is the price listed for sending the seeds in Cdn. or U.S.A. funds? As I am Canadian, what is the Cdn. price for sending out seeds?

What Brent is doing is different than what we do because of the packaging. Our volume is too high to package the way Brent is. We would have to hire a full time person to do the packaging and fulfillment. He is offering a unique service at a great price. We support him and seedoutlet.com 100 percent.
