There's no trick to it. You can make all kinds of things grow bigger if you give them the right herbal formula. For pumpkins, that includes grass, hay and grains that have been processed through the digestive tract of ruminants, leaves composted by microbes, and lots of water. Of course it also requires the use of atlantic giant pumpkin seeds, sunshine, and hard work adjusting the soil nutrient balance and managing the plant. Spend some time here, search the archives, you'll figure it out. At some point a limit may be reached, but we don't seem to be there yet. You too can make it grow from something the size of a ping pong ball to over 1,000 pounds in just 90 days. Nowhere else can this claim be made with the results to back it up. We'll even give you money back..... ahhhh, forget it.

You guys got it part righ and part wrong....it has to do with crop circles...you have to entice the magical circle makers to visit the patch when they are heading towards the wheat fields. You bait them with the milk Gerry speaks of, add a couple of cookies and VWAH LAH, they bombard your whole plant with protons. Geez you guys, get it straight!

Good point Rainydays! The pumpkin is simply the biggest fruit on the planet most probably the biggest ever since the life began. How is it regulated? It’s plant physiology. And why so big? I got a biological explanation looking at Gustavsson’s diary: he saves the pumpkin juice for the next season to fertilize the plant. Maybe the fruit provides nutrients or even growth regulators for successful growth of the seedlings next year. So bigger fruit means more fertilizer for the progeny and higher chance for their survival. Jernej

i think the "juice" idea is good. one of my AGs went to rot early. i left it thinking that i would get to he seeds later. lol all good seeds sprouted in the pumpkin! and the vine/root base on some were a half inch thick! the trick is to,,,,learn spend worry pray learn some more watch some die watch some get eaten watch some rot for no apparent reason worry some more. repeat! all that aside, when you see the growth you will smile! my "crop" was on a open trailer in front of my house. i got horn beeps and cheers! i didnt expect that! and my first year pumpkins are only 200lbs! good luck, and dont worry,,,,lool

froggy, At some point I'm sure the government may step in and regulate, probably by taxing according to size. Until then my goal will be to grow them big enough that all is needed is to preserve, cut and install windows and doors and there you have single, (or by coupling several together, multiple) family dwellings.
