I was thinking that a local Nursery by my house would make a perfect place to hold a weigh-off.

One of the workers said she would have the owner call me back in a few days, but what I really need is some help to how I should talk him into having a weigh off there.

Is there anyone out there that has started their own weigh off site and can give me any tips?

Jeff, i started a weighoff this year. Its alot of work, but totally worth it. What i did was i scheduled a meeting with the person in charge of making events like this happen. I brought in newspaper clippings, and lots and lots of pictures. Whatever info you may have. We just sat down and had a talk basically. Now if there arent any weighoffs in the area its a very good thing. This is what sealed the deal for me; after we got to talking for a while, and they seemed interested, i said something like "in the fall you can buy a pumpkin at any nursery, but you can't see a giant pumpkin weighoff at just any old nursery". It will attract people to there place of business, which any business owner would want. Maybe in the spring time you could do a workshop at the nursery, and give out free seeds........this is exactly what i did, and although the weighoff that we just had can use some "tweeking", i would say for the most part it was a success.
