How long can you let your pumpkin set if it is inside and in good condition before you should get the seeds out? Some say do it right away or can we save until last weekend of October and get them out. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Todd

I have heard that as long as it is solid and the cavity has not been breached you should be alright. Once you notice that it is getting soft pop it open.

The pumpkin should also be kept cool. If it stays in a very warm place, there is a good chance that the seeds will start to germinate inside.

It's a stinky job but seed can be pulled even after they go down to internal rot. Not nice at all but can be done. The only difference to me is the thought that the final rinse should include a fungicide.
The cold storage above is very important.
