How long will a pumpkin last after you carve it out. I would like to carve out my pumpkins and gather up the seeds, but I would like the pumpkin to last until halloween also.Any thoughts on the subject.

It depends on the surrounding temperature. 70° or above not over 5 days.

I've heard of using Lysol, bleach, salt & a raft of other odd items to help preserve the insides. But I'm with Stan, the cooler the better.

Has anyone ever used things like those that Steve mentioned and had success with it? Martin

Phil, I'd get your seeds out now and carve it later.

you can paint your pumpkin and put them out for show... use a craft paint. then you don't have to worry about how long they will last, and if you want you can take the paint off and carve them later. just an idea

Will the seeds go bad if left in the pumpkin to long?

My seeds did. The outside was fine, the inside had started to go bad. This is my first AG plant tho, I don't remember having a problem with my other pumpkins before. Of course this year I've had nothing but trouble....
