Do I need/have to remove the feathers. I am turning my gravel/garden area into 1 giant compost for the winter. My AG only weighted 47# UGH! The year before I got an 82# from a grocery store seed. I'm loading up with chicken and horse manure. Will the feathers help or bother anything ?

One need not concern themselves with pulling out the feathers. They break down quickly in the soil.

they are good when broken down but they take forever to do so. but the amount of work to remove them is not worth it. so leave them in (if you rent a fine shredder it would help. just put all the shit through)

I have added chicken manure(with feathers) for years. Feathers will break down and will add more nutrients to the soil....Tom

Only the chicken needs to be removed. Those suckers peck at everything, so you don't want them in with the pumpkins.
