We were cleaning up the gardens yesterday and I got to wondering how mature the seeds were in a 945 Van pumpkin that had rotted and had been discarded. It weighed probably around 150 pounds or so when a rotten spot appeared on the vine and went right into the stem and down through the pumpkin. We cut it loose and rolled it away. When I looked inside the disgusting smelly thing yesterday, I noticed green "things" and discovered some seeds had germinated and had two leaves emerging! And here it is fall...frost at night! I brought some ungerminated seeds in and washed them and left them to dry...but phew...they sure don't smell very nice. I seem to remember someone posting in here awhile ago about smelly seeds and someone told them how to kill the odor without damaging the seeds...but I forget just what they washed them with. Suggestions anyone??

A bleach/water solution should do it.
