My plants are all done as of lastnight. Just a tad on the cold side up here in Appleton. The pumpkins have not grown much if any in the last week. I will load one on the truck Thursday and the other on Friday.
I will be hitting the road for Nekoosa around 6 a.m. Saturday.......I hope to meet some you BP.com-ers
Then its off to Nekoosa

I had a killing frost last wednesday in Northern Minnesota, but my Big max had quit gaining wieght for about 2 weeks already anyhow. Can't wait to try AG's out next year, I've got 3000ft of planting room waiting for them and 20 yard of nicely aged horse manure.

Rancherlee, While 20 yards sounds like alot of manure, I think that you will find that it will disappear pretty fast when spreading it out over a 3000 sq.ft. patch. Jim Kuhn claims that horse manure is the best kind!!

I shall get a truckload of 1 year old horse manure tomorrow, i dont no how much it is in yard but its a truckload full on a trailer they use to spread that stuff. Think its enough for my two plants next year. To the topic, we had 32 degrees F last night, windows of the cars are frozen this morning. But the Pumpkin is OK. Well packed in warm blankets. My wife Annette said, she would like to be spoiled once in such a way like the Pumpkin.

I can get alot more than 20 yards, my parents have 10 horses :) I'm just mixing in 20 yards this fall, probibly more in the spring. My pie pumpkins grew like wild fire the last few years in 2 year old horse manure (fresh seems pretty hot)

Rancherlee, The conventional wisdom is to add manures in the fall and supplement with commercial fertilizers in the Spring. Anyway, that is how Joel Holland tells it in his videos. BTW, I have added over 60 yards to my new growing area(4400 sq.ft) in the past year.
