2 people have dies because of falling trees. Lots of flooding, and the power is out to much of the province.

My brother is out there in Halifax he got a few trees down, one of them landing on the house, few windows shattered, phone lines down so no power, etc. Had to use cell otherwise no way of getting in contact with us...He said it was a crazy storm, but everyone was ok...

Dill's are okay. Halifax area was hit the worst. Boats literally thrown out of the water onto the shore and piled one on top of another. Probably damage in the billion dollar range. We received mostly rain and some wind, pumpkins still hanging on! Unbelievable that the hurricance missed us as we live only 45 minutes from Halifax. Would like to wish everyone the best for this coming Saturday, October 4!

On the news here last night they said high tide would coincide with the apex. Bad news! 6 feet above normal was the forecast. To say flooding was iminent is putting it mildly.
How could they have not known to prepare if we heard about it here?
God willing their safety!

Most people from there are use to fairly harsh storms...Its just the storm was worse then the weatherman predicted.

Something hit here in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. I had just gone to bed around midnight, when a tremendous wind came up and with it rain lashing against our windows. There was a big bang and the house shook. Lights went out immediatly and the phone went dead. I used my cell phone and reported it to N.B. Power. They arrived around 5 o'clock a.m. One of them said there had been other damage further up river and he suspected a mini tornado had come through. (not natural for our area) One of our poplar trees, measuring 20 inches in diameter, and 44 feet in length, had been totally uprooted and had ripped the wires from our home when it crashed down. Good thing it fell away from our house! No one else in our immediate neighbourhood had been touched! The wind lasted less than 5 minutes! Then all was still. Yet, environment Canada maintains that no winds out of the ordinary occured. Go figure..... No wonder our neighbours in Nova Scotia were caught literally with their pants down! With a weather watch system like ours, anything can happen.
