A few days ago I carved up one of my pumpkins. It contained some very large seeds, some medium sized seeds, and some small seeds. Is there any difference in the potential that a seed has, to produce a large pumpkin, based on the size of the seed itself, with obviously the seeds genetics being close to equal? (from the same pumpkin)

As far as I found, not any difference in potencial to produce a large pumpkin, neither in sprouting vigour or seedling growth speed. The most important is that they sound full.

Beet,
I know one grower who actually weighs each seed, and keeps the heaviest for himself. One of the seeds he "gave away" grew a 1000#er!

That is where the "luck factor" comes in. Genetics are a world of wonder! You've got to "hand it to God", He knew what He was doing when He created this world!
