Hey everyone, I was just wondering what your favorite giant pumpkin seeds are and why. What experiences had you had with them to make you love 'em so much? And I know that all of us would just love to have an 845, 723, 846 or a 582... I would be more interested in hearing about less famous seeds that perhaps only you have grown!!!

Yo Mike, 888 Mombert, grown on same plant and same pollinator as 940 (1998), lovely colour and shape. 455.4 Andrews..basicaly the same shape but a lighter colour than the 888 and a chance that it will throw a greenie. Grown both of these last year and again this year and will do again next year. Great shape and great genetics and both fruit are bigger this year than last..maybe bigger again next year..who knows.

Another one: 1036 Perez 03 (600.5 Gregory x 950.4 Boyton) I think this seed has incredible potential and will have great heat resistance as well. If you like a cream monster in hot climate it would be a must plant...Ben

859 Mombert has to be my favorite to date...How can you knock a seed that gives you the biggest fruit grown on that particular seed..Very aggressive, very forgiving and great orange....and it's about 940 EST...but estimates are just that....an estimate..

Have to agree with Alun. Love that 455.4 Andrews! I'll take any that nobody wants.

The 1074 Calai that i grew this year does put out very nice deep orange and well shaped pumpkins. I have two on one plant because it had two mains. I will see if it goes light or heavy. I would love to grow it again next year. But with only one pumpkin on the plant.

As I am not very concerned with orange color, 600.5, of course, and, like Ben said, 1036. How it couldn't be?

LOL, and i agree, Carlos! --i look forward to growing the 1230 Daletas again. everything about the plant was top-notch: BIG leaves, very tall leaf stalks, enabling easy locating of the females, monsterous male flowers on very long stems, and very nicely-shaped fruit. i will plant it again when i feel i can give it my all and no less! I'm still looking for a favorite also like Bob, I can't pick one without trying the seed first. I personally had problems with my 1230 plant, but I've heard of other nice ones on it. I also had some problems with my 695 plant but the pumpkin was very nice and would have been decent looking if I hadn't messed it up.

Ha Ha Ha, Ben if you want to see a messed up looking attempt at manipulating mother nature take a look at the flat vine Emmons 1262 I have been "tweaking" all season in the photo gallery I submitted today!

My Daughter grew the 1230 last year and had a personal best pumpkin at 596#. I tried to tell her not to bury the weeds with the vines but sometimes kids have their own ideas, I barely beat her...

Gerry, that thing is wide! Brett had a 582 pumpkin this year that looked like a pancake also, that thing wasn't even knee high. There's a picture in my photo gallery.
