Just thought I'd throw out a tidbit to the growers with a 1074 going. We weighed mine today and it taped 324 OTT or 697 lbs by the new chart, weighed 570 lbs or 18.2% light. It's days like these that make you want to hang up your sprayer and lifting tarp. A most humiliating and disappointing result, almost to the point of embarrassing. So if you got one on the 1074 that tapes big, looks big, better beware and give it thump. It could have just been I screwed up, but I don't know what I did wrong. Just wanted anyone who has one on this plant to be forwarned so that they're chin doesn't hit the asphault when they find the fruit has tissue paper for walls..

I'll trade your 570 lb pumpkin for my 42 lb cull that ended up being my largest this year. Lost most of mine to rot. Then, last one was going to be in the 350-400 lb range and mice made a dwelling out of it. Surounded by an acre patch of pumpkins they (mice)had to pick this one. Why? Because of Murphy's laws of course. Be thankful you grew a 570 lber and get em bigger next year.....Tom

Keep smiling Stunner, my fair pumpkin taped out at 675 and was only a puny 628... Oh the horrer, I think it gave one of my lifting crew members future mutant babies!!!

I checked out of curiosity on the 846 and found that it swings from roughly 10% heavy to 15 % light. I also saw that the one fruit listed on the AGGC grown on the 1074 went something like 15 % heavy. I guess it just depends on conditions and which seed you got. Sorry to hear about that stunner. A nice looking pumpkin though.

In fact, everyone here can send me all their pumpkin seeds that have a crack in the shell! Seems obvious to me that they must be "no good", so why not just send them my way? :>) I'm sure that Glen will send me all of his "cracked" 582's as well! :>)
