Since my season ended early, I have begun my 2004 season with a soil test and here are the results...My question is...what would you do to the following soil in prep for next year??? (15x30 patch) pH 7.2 P 193 ppm K 389 ppm Mg 576 ppm Ca 2674 ppm CEC 19.2 meq/100 g
% of Exchangeable Bases K=5.2 Mg=25.0 Ca 69.8
Organic matter 25.7%
Bring pH down? If so, with what/how much? Also, it says my P & K are 'above optimum"...Anything I can do about that? Any advice appreciated...

Congratulations, that is great result, Frank. In my humble opinion, nothing has to be done to improve it, concerning with composition at least. Just keep its life level high with good drainage, cover crops, best moment tillage and so.

A 25% organic matter in the soil is terrific! I struggle to make 8%. Winter rains should drop your pH to 6.8 which is considered "perfect"! :>)

O.K. Thanks guys. I was concerned about the "above optimum" elements. But, hey, I'm looking for 'above optimum' results, right?!? Now if I can only get the results you guys get I'll be happy next year! Frank
