For the last couple of years the GPC has been talking about getting the “Big Show” to come to Europe. It has not been easy to find locations that compare in price with places like Vegas.
For that reason Stuart and I have offered to host the show at our place on the South Coast of England. We have plenty of room and are also offering to do all the food and drink for free on the Friday night to keep costs to a minimum.
This would be a great chance for all the growers in Europe to meet the very best growers in the world and we need your support.
What we are after now is for growers to put up their hands if they like the idea and would consider attending.

I would make a definate effort to attend. It sounds like te patins are making a very generous offer to keep costs down for growers and the GPC. Two years notice would allow for those of us like me to budget for the expense. I like the idea of a rotation to europe every 5 or so years with locations in between to include large numbers of local growers.

Like Nick, it would be good to have a year or so to budget a trip overseas. 2016 would be a good year to do it. That way it wouldn't interfere with the 2015 Pumpkin cruise which would leave right after the 2015 GPC convention in Orlando. At least I think the convention will be there again in 2015. Correct me if I'm wrong on this for 2015.

Thanks Ian & Stuart for the kind offer. We'll hopefully be able to attend. I always wanted to see the UK. Cheers,

Jane & Phil Hunt

Teresa and I would be interested if we can save up. I assume there are hotels close? What about transportation? Is public transit available? Rental cars? Looks like we can get an entry VISA at the port of entry?

Hi Cecil and Teresa there are good train and coach connections from both London gatwick and London heathrow airports. if you were to rent a car which is easy from either airport it is approximately 1 1/2 hours drive. We would make a list of local hotels/bed and breakfast of which there are plenty with good rates as it is there slow season. If anyone needs any help with arrangements our end we would be happy to help. Ian and I will supply food and drink for the meet and greet night which will save everyone going out for a meal. We have some great local caters who will give us a good deal on the two meals on show day and of course the venue will be free.

tim, Ian would probably argue that the British Ale is much better then German beer, but if this event goes as planned I will bring in the back of my RAM 1500 4x4 pumpkin hauler 200 half litre German beers.

Um, question for Ian, would I have to pay some sort of customs...LOL

What Pap said is a very fair comment and after going to the last three GPC shows Stuart and I know how much the trip across the pond costs. Any European growers going to the USA have been looked after very well and if the show comes to Europe for a year we need to return the favour.
In all seriousness Stuart and I think this a great opportunity to put something back in and if there are any other growers out there who feel they can help out please feel free to mail me.

it's about growing pumpkins and sharing ideas. it is not about going to florida, on a cruise ship or going to las vegas.

Ian and Stuart have made a more then generous offer.

If the GPC, since they are now the big dog (wasn't always the case for this convention) does not back this it will never happen.

I was going to Niagra then I found out the same year it was in Vegas so I didn't go.

Now cruises are the "in GPC" thing.

Is what it is, like I said if the GPC don't back it won't happen.

yep some of us are not working and have little money,
this would be my only chance of meeting other growers, BIG and small,
even if it did happen I may not be able to afford it myself?
but it would give a lot of people a better shot at a meet maybe?
well done ian and stu for making an offer like that!
