don't matter the size of the pumpkin it's what's on the inside that counts.....genes are determined at pollination. nothing else after that changes them. it's simple science people.

well simply that 845 x self works as we all have seen right?
so why shouldn't 723 x self?

Perhaps the 252 Sawtelle was grown on a plant with just 20 leaves..who knows...how would I know? since pumpkins don't come with descriptions giving the details about how they are grown, sizes actually have less meaning...now what would really interest me was knowing whether 252 was the actual maximized size potential of that particular 723 Bobier seed... Imagine this was Bruce Whittier's 723 plant, he pollinates it early July, did everything right... no problems with viruses and mildew...AND THEN he only grows 252!!! Or perhaps this fruit was grown on 20 leaves as I mentioned above...

Let me say in this public forum that indeed , I was talking about pumpkins and not....errrr well you know....that other thing. And might I add southern, it was entirely unnecessary of you to be sending me pictures and signed affidavits from ex-lady friends and military buddies.

well i have a 950.4 boyton x self pumpkin, which means it still retains the pure 845 Bobier genetics because the 950.4
was a selfed 845. my 950.4 plant was grown in the grass to act mostly as a male pollinator. no soil preparation
except in a 3' wide planting area. no special attention to
this plant. the plant still produced 2 pumpkins over 220
lbs. the 2003 Shenoha 256(uow)seeds are drying out right now. i will donate 200 of them to bp.com. i will be
curious to see what size pumpkins will be grown from
this 256 pounder. with good soil, more attention,
and just one pumpkin per plant, will it produce the same
as the 950.4 did with Don Q's results?
