I've seen many posts regarding cutting the pumpkin off the vine when growth becomes very slow or close to zero. What is the rationale? If there is no obvious disease, won't the plant slowly dehydrate once off the vine and at least two weeks to a weigh-off. I can't see a good reason to cut off the vine yet. Gained about 10 pounds in the last week.

Baring other serious reasons curing naturally on the vine is mother's way.
