Hi all. My 840 is not a monster, but it has been a fun plant to grow this year. There is still a lot of time left in the 840 contest, but I will probably get a weight within the next couple weeks.
I have learned a lot this year. The 840 is my only pumpkin plant so I am happy that it tapes out to a new personal best at nearly 400 lbs.
Since posting in a journal is a requirement, it isn't too hard to see where other growers are in general. I see a couple others in the same range as mine so so it should be fun to see the numbers.
Smitty, mine might be done growing...are you going to catch me?

I remember when Smitty lost his plant and we talked him into starting again (if memory is correct)! I believe that I read that the fruit on his 840 is his personal best? Thats great! I could only grow mine to a little 270 lbs! LOL!!! Good luck to the final contestants and I hope it becomes an exciting race to the finish.

I know I'm not " in " the contest because I did not post a journal but, my 840 measured 128, 82 X 76 today for an est. wt. of 460-475 lbs. and still growing. Just 4 the fun of it. Al Berard

Not sure how much bigger mine will get. The forecast for tomorrow is calling for a chance of snow!
You're right Mike, it is my personal best! Thanks for encouraging me to start anouther one when the first seed failed.
I haven't done any measurments for a while, but I think it's somewhere near 400 pounds. Brent, I think you and I will have a close race!

I would like to see feedback from those in and out of the contest.
If you are wondering if you still qualify for the contest per posted rules... then you probably already know the answer.
But this was for fun and we'd like to hear from all 840 growers. Brent W.
ps. Congrats Al, you may very well have the biggest one going!
