I dryed seeds from my 77lbs pumpkin yesterday. The pumpkin was partly rotten, but the seeds looked O.K But now they stink like... rotten fish (or simmilar)! Is that very bad? They are normal colour and size (only some of them are twisted).

Only one way to find out, dry em out good and try one to see if it sprouts.

I had the same stinking three days here resulting from the same cause. When they dried the odor settled down to allmost nonexistant.

Thanks. I need a lot of seeds next season and I was a bit worried.

I rinse my seeds off with some diluted Clorox water before drying. This disinfects them and makes them smell like clorox!
