i was curiouse as to how many pumpkins you growers grow that make it to weigh off time, and how many pumpkins don't make it from your gardens? example; 1 pumpkin to fair out of 4 grown 1 split, 2 with soft spot.

2 vines started. On one vine two choice pumpkins rotted. I'm down to one pumpkin on my remaining vine. Talk about not sleeping for worry about rotting, splits and varmits.....

4 seeds sprouted in pots 2 transplanted to garden Both plants had about 60% abort rate at everyting from pingpong ball size to beachball size. 1 plant has 3 pumpkins all over 200# (1 main, 2 secondary) 1 plant has 2 pumpkins over 250# (1 on main, 1 on secondary)

We have an abort ratio of about 12:1 here at the house patch. My son's school abort ratio is better at about 6:1.
I will attribute this to a more agressive fertility program here but the shade could have something to do with it too.
Mr T. How's about a cement or cinder block wall? Good luck & BE SAFE!
