Hi everyone, I'm a new 1st year grower and have two beautiful 350 lbers. I know these are just babies for most of you. One has splits that I've been cleaning and putting Captan in, but the other has cracks pushing from the inside out. Am I going to have a blow-out? I just received two Giant Pumpkin books for my birthday !!! After reading about cracks I washed them out with a weak solution of bleach and H2O and am drying them. Does anyone know what causes the cracks pushing out of the inside of the pumpkin ? The growth has slowed down to almost nothing. Thank you

Deann are they big splits or like stretch marks. If they are small this is referred to as cantelouping and is a good thing because they normally go heavy. Shannon

You know what, I'll bet their cantelouping. The splits are about a 1/2 inch and oozing. Also, we are at 1300 ft. so it is getting cold at night. This is good news. I was afraid that they were getting ready to blow. Thanks so much. DeAnn
