It's been 3 weeks now since Mark P. was nice enough to share the How to pumpkin push with us. For all the growers who did the push, just wondering how the fruit are growing?

I had a brief surge for about two days however the temps went up those two days as well into the 90 degree range. The pumpkin seemed to take its natural course. I think the pumpkin was way down on its growth curve, in all fairness and this should have been done earlier. One year I need to have the courage to try a push when the fruit is stll rapidly growing in its 4th week of rapid weight gain. I think this is where the true gamble will lie.

I lost two initially (split), then the rest was for naught with another week of heavy rain leaching everything out....back to 15# a day now.

We blew up 2. The rest went well for a week. But then the flood. And now cool weather....
Personally I think this should be done at or just shortly after basketball size is reached. The Pistano Push might be too agressive for someone with only one or two fruit sets. I can understand this. But here in the East, we've had an uphill battle all year with the weather & the PP isn't enough to over come.
For the record I've gone so far as to inject a very dilute 2,4-D soultion into one small set. LOL! When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose!

Just after the forced feeding post I had two blow up WITHOUT any help or encouragement. Maybe they read the post or it's just part of the growing scheme.

Of I quoted 1024 and 654.5 grow very well, he will not give me a record of the world, but beautiful 2 fruits, 1024 makes in OTT = 255, and 654.5 in OTT = 263, everything them 2 continue to grow still very well.

I must have shoved instead of pushed.
Before the push, my stem was 16" in circumference, but now it is nearly split in half. She couldn't hold together & my big one is done.
This was a good lesson learned about using granular fert, it's potentcy and how much of a spike it can cause.
