well, not good. I go out this morning and the split had a hole in it big enough to put a pencil INTO the cavity! I went on and caulked it up per Len S. 's. Hole only open for less than 4 hrs. I checked it in middle of night and no hole, so it just happened. I have a few questions:
1. Is it completly done? With it caulked up, any chance I can get a few more pounds? 2. Will this cause it to rot much faster? I was hoping to get it to weigh-offs in late sept. and early oct. and have on porch for Halloween? 3. Will the seeds be mature with fruit at day 41 and approx 630 pounds? 4. Will it be O.K. to leave on vine maybee 4-5 days to see if it will still grow?
Thanks for responses, And if season is over, I'm very happy with 600+ pounds for 2nd year trying and shattering my old PB of around 100 pounds. Granted I would have liked to see this thing grow out its potential since only 41 days old, who wouldn't, But I'm still very excited about 600+ pounds! Thanks All!! Mike

Last year my 810 developed a split at a deep rib on August 31. Caulked with silicone and let it grow. I cut it on October 4th for the weighoff (exhibiton only). It ended up rotting on my front yard about 10 days later. It put on 200 pounds during that last month. Will it make Halloween- I seriously doubt it. Will it make a weighoff- I doubt it but you have nothing to lose. I suprised myself last year. Are the seeds any good- again I doubt it, just another reason to let it grow a while longer. Good luck
