OK It's time to come clean.

By now we all know who is going to make their 2003 personal growing goals. And we know which plant or plants aren't going to contribute to those goals. That much we can agree upon right?

So what of those "non-contributors"? You know the one I mean. That plant that hasn't cooperated all year & has some pathetic little carver tormenting you every time you look in the patch.

As for me, I'm getting even.

I just got through sticking "that one" with a medical syringe filled with a horticulturalists cocktail straight out of a sci-fi novel. And no. It wasn't milk.

This is where we can fess up. What other bizarre & ghastly things have we all done to those plants that chose to torture us?

And what if any gains do we expect to see? Or is this behavior just my maniacal alter ego shining through?

Is this thread going to read like a meeting of Pumpkins Anonymous? Or do we have some scientifically valid reasoning?

My milk spray for powdery mildew experiment has me more confused than usual.First thing is it turned out to be downy mildew on the leaves that I sprayed outdoors.I had some powdery mildew under the plastic but didn't realise it and did not spray there thats now to bad to mess about with and today I had to sell out and buy some proper spray.UV light on the milk is supposed to produce hydrogen peroxide which gives the fungus a hard time so it doesn't work so good if the sun ain't shining (a likely story)so I think its not gonna work on the downy which attacks the underside of the leaf where the sun don't shine so I think hey why not spray it with h2o2 in the first place then I find out that Zerotol contains hydrogen dioxide (classed as a synonym for hydrogen peroxide)and peracetic acid (hydrogen peroxide + vinegar)and my eyes light up so last night I sprayed badly affected leaves with h2o2.

The slight flaw in the plan is that I have not sprayed any milk on powdery mildew infected leaves and now the chance is gone. The h2o2 hasn't done any harm the milk didn't smell much the downy didn't spread much in fact it got less because the mice ate some of the leaves yum yum.
Along the way I also found out that two antibiotics that could be found in milk from treated cows (streptomycin and oxytetracycline)are licensed for horticultural use in some countries.

So the experiment is over the truth is out there but I won't find it this year.

Paul,
The hormones are natural, not synthetic (Steve?)
They just come in a concentrated form in a bottle instaed of the plant and soil....

The hormones occur naturally in plants. No hormones = no plants. Like men. No testosterone = no pe....well you get the idea.

These however are synthesized in a laboratory. And were it not for these hormones there would be no Thomson White Seedless Grapes. Not enough Cotton to clothe us either. Or then again we could be paying $150.00 for a pair of Levi's.

Kyle, I mainlined one cullable fruit yesterday. 1cc per 48 oz water. Then I duplicated using the same formulation plus 20-20-20 with micros. 10" before the fruit. It won't matter if they abort. Just having fun. Your diary pics look good!

"1cc per 48 oz water",,,Steve,,are you injecting 48 oz water and 1 cc into vine?? Or just the 1cc??

That was the dilution rate. 1cc of PGR-IV per 48 oz/water.
The vines got 1cc of the diluted material. The other 47.98 oz was for some hardwood cuttings I have rooting. On one of the sets I plan to repeat this daily for a while just to see what happens.

There is no valid reason to expect this to do anything. But it gives me a reason to not rip out the low performing vine.

i worked with a 22 yr old body builder, strong kid,,,,
he shot up natural roids, and he was insane when he did..
and real bald.
im all for keeping one alive,,
but i do think if it is acceptable contest practice then the should be seperate contest groups...
maybe my purple spotted one needs these zoomies.
is there a natural way to introduce these natual zoomies to the plant?
i shot in nematodes and and got nasty vine damage where i did.
this was in the leaf base.
and i did the big dummy thing.
16 ga needle in the fore arm!pic in diary.
doc says im ok,,,be careful tremor...
