All three of my pumpkins have wet spots and soft spots on the stems. Two of the plants are AG and the other plant is a big max. I cut the big max pumpkin off to treat the problem areas and it seems to be fine now, just have to make it last to Halloween. This pumpkin weighed 70lbs. Not bad for a big max. Any ideas of what could cause the stems to go bad? Could it be over watering or fertilizing? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Jeff

You need to put a fungicide on the stem to prevent this. Big Max, Prizewinner and AG's have soft stem that like to rot.
