I have many dead, half dead leaves on my AG. Is it best to cut then off at the vine or what? Puzzled in Cheese?

Weigh in the compression you may create with foot traffic in the patch not to mention a mis-step onto a vine. I always go to the least foot traffic possible unless there is a serious reason to go in.

While on the Spy Tour yesterday we noted that at least one grower had actually hired a man just to clip damaged leaves. I say get them out of there. The best patches we saw were not coincidentally the cleanest.

I like to clean the dead ones out to improve the light and air-flow which is important for mildew control. Sometimes if a leaf is only 1/2 dead I trim it with scissors and leave the remaining living part.

Mother lets the dead decompose where they fall.
